  • Study a Language of the Middle East!

    Are you interested in the cultures of the Middle East? Are you looking for a new linguistic challenge?

    A Self-Directed Language Acquisition Program started in Spring 2009. Choose to learn Farsi/Persian, modern Hebrew, or Turkish with the help of a language partner and both print and electronic resources. Develop skills that will help you whenever you encounter a new language.

September 30: Guest Lecture on the Renaissance

Sept. 24: Come to the Spanish Tertulia

Tertulia is a relaxed conversation group for students of all levels to improve their Spanish. 
There will be an informational meeting for all students interested in the Spanish tertulia group Wednesday, September 24, at 2:30 in Tyler’s Grill.  Depending on the different levels of students who are interested, there may be several different groups.

Sept. 23: Censorship Program

The Virginia Holocaust Museum and the Virginia ACLU is participating in the American Library Association’s Banned Books Week with an evening of reading from the works of censored works and banned authors.  The evening will also mark the opening of a new Museum exhibit on censorship as a tool of genocide.

Sept. 23: Lecture on Islamic Culture

Farzaneh Milani, noted professor of Persian Literature and Women¹s Studies,
will speak at the University of Richmond on Sept. 23, at 7 p.m., in the
